Ozonoterapia y la Hepatitis Hepatitis virus As of today and within the context of population growth, migration, ease and speed of travel, have made hepatitis viruses to expand globally. There are an estimated 500 million people infected in the world, and 2% of the Spanish population is infected, though most are healthy carriers of HCV. The most common transmission of hepatitis C is through transfusion of blood derivatives or by taking drugs through vein. The risk of sexually transmitted virus is very low.

Symptoms

Hepatitis virus The first years with Hepatitis HCV infection goes without symptoms, and are frequently discovered by chance after a routine reconnaissance. In the analysis, it is detected an increase of transaminases. A subsequent investigation will determine whether their cause is a hepatitis B or C. Only when the infection has developed symptoms occur. The most common of these is the feeling of tiredness, which can be important. About 20% of those infected develop liver cirrhosis after 20 years, and 5% evolves towards a hepato-cell carcinoma which survives for 30 years during the disease progression. However, if the patient's immune system is affected the course of the infection can be more aggressive, and complications could arrive in shorter periods of time.

Treatment

Hepatitis virus As of today science has no resolutive therapeutic measures, there is no effective treatment for hepatitis C. The only existing line of treatment is the Interferon and Ribavirin, which have significant adverse effects on the patient. On the other hand, Interferon is contraindicated in patients with decreased white blood cells, platelets, with liver discompensation, HIV infection, pregnancy, depression of the immune system and so on. Although before the likelihood of developing serious liver diseases treatment with interferon is justified. A vaccine against hepatitis B has been conceived, however, there is still nothing against hepatitis C.

How does Ozone react with an acute or chronic hepatitis?

Ozone is known to have proven antiviral properties.

Oxides the lipids cover of the virus.

Modifies the structure of the virus by preventing the union with the receiver. In this way it inhibits or rather it prevents the infestation of a new cell.

Stimulates production of white blood cells and the production of cytokines, thus enhancing the immune system.

Increases the production of interferon and tumor necrosis factor needed to control infection and cancer.

Increases the efficiency of the antioxidant enzyme system, which controls the excess of free radicals in the body.

Increases the dissociation of oxygen and hemoglobin, increasing the supply of oxygen from the blood to the cells, thus favors oxygenation of the cells.

Improves the flexibility and effectiveness of the red blood cells’s membrane.

How is the ozone treatment administered?

It is performed by rectal insulfation. This is a small enema gas, which is absorbed by the system hemorrhoids, portal vein, thus gaining access to the liver.

How long is the treatment?

About two months with a frequency of 3 times a week. The person must remain under supervision until 6 months.

Does treatment have any side effects?

Research has found none. The treatment is done on an outpatient basis and the patient may well continue with their daily lives.

Does ozone treatment interfere with interferon?

No, in fact there are several studies in which there were simultaneously treatments administered, and there are investigations where only ozone has been used, both with positive results.
