FIBROMYALGIA AND OZONETHERAPY

Unfortunately fibromyalgia is a disease that is becoming more frequent in our western society and reaching women every day. Its course is chronic and difficult to approach, specialists find themselves powerless to combat them, but a lot can be done to improve the living condition of the patients.

Its origins are still unknown. Research assessed the psychosocial variables as possible causes of pain and chronic fatigue. In general the results show that there is no evidence of psychopathological changes in people who suffer from the problem, suggesting that the implication of these factors may be in the ways we adapt to it (Shepherd, Lopez-Roig, Rodriguez and Juan Marin. 1995).

It has been found evidence in persons who suffer fibromyalgia of a declining level of serotonin.  We have seen that the engine plate (which is where the nerve connects to the muscle to give orders) presents an alteration of its oxygenation patterns. Hence,
ozone therapy is very useful in these cases.

In Spain, about 800,000 people suffer from this disease of which between 80% and 90% are women from 30 to 50 years old.

Fibromyalgia responds to a kind of rheumatism which is not articulate with chronic pain in the muscles, ligaments and tendons. It is characterized by generalized muscle-skeletal pain, pain sensation at certain points (target points). Also present are marked fatigue, morning stiffness, sleep disturbance, tingling in the extremities, headaches, depression and anxiety.

Patients are locked in a vicious circle from which one cannot get out without help, because the disease is compounded in the majority of cases by a tremendous depression.

Its diagnosis is not difficult if it is known, and if it is exclusively clinic. Unfortunately, the reality of these patients is very tough, most of them are deferred to different specialists and subjected to unnecessary complementary explorations, and all of these will result to be “normal” and do not explain what is happening to the patient.

The result is that the sick person is forced to hear phrases like "Madam you have nothing”, “just nerves and anxiety", immediately creating an utter incomprehension of her situation.

Ozone therapy constitutes an important and valuable alternative to the treatment of this condition.

Ozone:

Improves cell oxygenation. Disaggregated and soften erythrocytes are able to absorb and transfer O2, among other factors, by increased contact surface free deformability. The arterial PO2 increases and decreases the venous PO2 improving cell oxygenation. There is a noticeable increase in the 2,3 DPG, which facilitates the transfer of oxygen trapped in the oxyhemoglobin in red blood cells.

Increases the blood circulation.

Increases the efficiency of the antioxidant enzyme system, which controls the excess of free radicals in the body.

It reduces tiredness and fatigue..

Alleviates pain.

Increases production of serotonin, therefore improves the state of mind and overall well being of the patient.

Empowers the immune system.

Treatment

Ozone is applied through muscle infiltration all along paravertebral muscle and painful points. It is combined with a systematic treatment of ozone either through the blood system (major autohemotherapy) or the rectum.

Our protocol also recommends the neural therapy, homeopathy and magnetotherapy, which increase the effects of ozone getting faster and better natural results. The therapy it’s not painful.

It will be recommended to patients to practice any soft aerobic exercise, especially swimming in warm pools and having relaxed massages in a systematic way.

The results will be positive and encouraging. This technique is totally innocuous, improves dramatically the paravertebral muscles, reducing pain and contracture.

The quality of living may be relieved so that the patient can make a more normal life, thus preventing disability.
